What is a call number?
Answer
The SCCC libraries use the Library of Congress Call Number system to organize print books on the shelves. Think of a call number as the address of a book.
The books are arranged in Alphabetical order by the first letter or two in the call number. The call number is a (alpha/numeric) code to describe the subject of the book and is located on the spine of each book in the stacks. See the "How to Read Library of Congress Call Numbers."
If you still need more information on call numbers, contact a reference librarian at one of the campus libraries through live chat, phone or in-person.
