Q. What is Gale? I was searching a Gale Database and now I can't find it.
Gale, part of Cengage Learning, is a provider of various databases or electronic articles collections. At the time this was written, SCCC Libraries provides the following Gale databases.
Academic OneFile - Multi-subject database of peer-reviewed, full-text articles from major journals and reference sources.
Computer Database - Articles covering hardware, software, electronics, engineering, communications and technology.
Gale Virtual Reference Library - Encyclopedias, almanacs, and specialized reference sources for research in a wide variety of subjects.
General OneFile - Articles on many subjects for researchers at all levels. This also has accessto current NY Times articles.
Health Reference Center Academic - Health related articles, pamphlets and videos.
Literary Sources (Artemis) - Literary criticism, biographies, bibliographies and work overviews. Gale database.
Power Search (Gale) - Search multiple Gale databases simultaneously.
Vocations and Careers Collection (Gale) - Articles on all aspects of jobs and careers.
If you are not certain which database to use, go to the library homepage, click the Articles or Search All tab, and enter your search terms there. That will search a large selection of the library's databases from various providers and should help you find relevant material.
If you are still having trouble, stop at the reference desk. The libraries are open late most evenings in the Fall and Spring semesters and you can call the reference from off-campus if you need assistance. Check the library homepage for the phone number for your campus library.
