Are there limits or any monetary costs with interlibrary loans at the SCCC library?

Answer

The SCCC Libraries' Interlibrary Loan (ILL) service does not pass on any fees incurred for borrowing material to patrons. The service is meant to be used to request materials needed by students, faculty, and staff to complete assignments or for research that is not available at the SCCC Libraries. We do not request textbooks through ILL. All three campus libraries do provide a popular reading section for students, faculty and staff looking for to read the latest titles.

For non-academic material, the Suffolk County Public Library system allows users to order materials from any library in the system online for delivery to the patron's nearest library. They also provide ILL services for material they don't own.

We also provide an intercampus and inter-SUNY delivery service. To request a book from another SCCC or SUNY library, sign in to your account in the top right-hand corner of our search results page.  Once you're signed in, you will be able to see the "request" option in the record of books that are currently unavailable. Click request and choose which campus you wish to have the book delivered to. If you have trouble with this, feel free to see a librarian at the Reference Desk for help completing the request.
