How do I cite an article in MLA style?

Answer

It depends on the type of source you are citing and if it is online or hard-copy. Below is an example of citations of journal (or periodical) articles. Be aware of the punctuation separating the elements of the citation as well as the difference in the font indicating the journals' names.  Pay attention to spacing as well.  For more examples and step-by-step instructions see below.

Be aware of the aspects of these citation elements:

Author
1 (one) Author: LastName, FirstName.
2 (two) Authors:   LastName, FirstName, and FirstName LastName.
3 (three) or more Authors: LastName, FirstName, et. al.

Title
Enclose title in "quotation marks" followed by a period.

Name of Journal
The journal name must be italicized.
