What is MLA style?

MLA is a citation style that is often used for undergraduate research projects and papers. MLA stands for Modern Language Association and is primarily meant for research in the Humanities including literature, languages, philosophy, etc. Below is an example of an MLA citation. The library has print handbooks as well as online guides to help you.

One author, book citation example:
Begin the entry with the author’s last name, followed by a comma and the rest of the name, as presented in the work. End this element with a period.
