Q. What is the DSM IV?


The DSM IV, Diagnostic Statistical Manual of Mental Disorders, is the most accepted diagnostic tool for mental health professionals in the United States.  It provides the criteria to diagnose a patient with a specific mental disorder.  The current edition of the manual is the 4th, which was published in 1994 and updated in 2000.
