How do I find a book on the shelf?

The SCCC libraries use the Library of Congress call number system to organize books on the shelves.  The call number is a code to describe the subject of the book.   See the "How to Read Library of Congress Call Numbers."
The books are arranged in alphabetical order by the first letter or two in the call number.  A sticker on the spine of the book shows the call number of that book.
To find a book on the shelf:
1. Use the SCCC library catalog to search for a book and find the call number, campus location and collection.
2. From the search results find the appropriate collection or section of the library (circulating, popular, new, reference, ESL or oversized).
3. Match the first letter or two of the call number with the sticker on the book.
4. Match the letter in the second line of the call number (after the period)
