Wikipedia is a great source to use if you are trying to choose a topic or are just beginning your research and are completely unfamiliar with your topic.
 
However, most professors do not consider Wikipedia to be a credible, reliable resource, so it should not be used for or cited in your research. 
 
If you need a to get background information on a topic, try some of the library's reference databases like Gale Virtual Reference Library or CREDO Reference.
